Damian Grimm started out as a simple sketch which i put to paper around 2007.In 2010 a local guy was attempting to start a comic book publishing venture and asked me to submit an idea.That sketch of DG seemed to speak to me but who was he? i had no concept for the character no back story,nothing. DG was originally drawn as a pulp type vigilante in the Shadow mold. At the same time that i was searching for a concept i was into Will Eisner and Jack Cole who's works i was digging thanks to DC's reprint collections of The Spirit and Plastic man.These two creators were adept at both humor and pathos and sometimes in the same story i decided these two would be my guides.Damian would be a hero who didn't take things to seriously, a fun character who would work in various stories in various genres but a character who could be serious when it was required.So now it was time to create the concept,what was the world DG inhabited? and again a old sketch would call to me a drawing of a shadowy ominous looking house which i had drawn(likely a Wrightson swipe) and written "A strange Asylum on the outskirts of Limbo..." above.The embryo of a concept was brewing.Damian became a agent of the Overseer (need i say another previously drawn character with no back story?) the keeper of asylum a place located on the outskirts of Limbo a realm between reality and the Beyond.I submitted that story obviously oblivious to my lack of skills at the drawing board at the time and was summarily rejected but those characters had now became people i wanted to know.I have been working on Weird Fantastic Suspense, the title which i chose to feature these characters in, on and off ever since 2010 and i now i feel as though i am good enough to share these characters with the world.I hope i can make a go of it and continue to improve.If you are inclined to check out my comic visit me at Patreon(link in comments) and if you think you may enjoy reading the exploits of DAMIAN GRIMM The Dimension hopping hero from Limbo subscribe!
